UT Overall health, UTRGV grow to be Texas’ initial NIA Alzheimer’s Analysis Center

A new nationwide designation will give San Antonio’s leading Alzheimer’s study institute access to nationwide resources to extend its research on the degenerative disease that disproportionately impacts Hispanics.

The College of Texas Wellbeing Science Centre at San Antonio, in partnership with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, declared Thursday it has been named a federally designated Alzheimer’s Disorder Analysis Middle.

Funded by the National Institute on Growing older, a division of the U.S. National Institutes of Health and fitness, Alzheimer’s ailment analysis facilities work to “translate investigate advancements into improved analysis and treatment, as perfectly as uncover approaches to address and maybe protect against Alzheimer’s disease and similar dementias,” according to the NIA’s site. The South Texas centre will come to be the 33rd exploration heart in the countrywide network.
